About the Journal

Focus and Scope

The journal releases unpublished articles with scientific and/or technological value, in all relevant areas of construction engineering, such as structural engineering, materials science and technology, project management, road engineering, building engineering, and construction technology and processes. The journal includes articles reporting research results, as well as literature reviews, case studies, or brief communications of findings or discussions of articles already published.

 

Journal History

Founded in 1986, Revista Ingeniería de Construcción (RIC) is a four-monthly journal of the Department of Construction Engineering and Management of the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. Its main purpose is to promote the progress, development and innovation of construction engineering and management, providing a global forum for discussion and dissemination of new knowledge and research results.

Section Policies

 

Research Articles

These articles arise from original research and have not been previously published, either partially or completely, or are not under an evaluation process in another scientific journal. It is a document that presents and analyzes in a detailed way, the results of research projects. The generally used structure consists of four parts: introduction, methodology, results, and conclusions. Scientific articles will be limited to a length of 5,000 words without considering references.

 

Literature Review Article

The main purpose of these articles is to summarize, analyze and discuss published information related to a specific topic. A document resulting from an investigation where the results of published research on a field in science or technology are analyzed, systematized and integrated in order to present the advances, development trends and identify the state of the art limitations. Review articles will be limited to a length of 5,000 words without considering references.

Case Study Article

These articles present the results of a detailed study on a particular situation to share technical and methodological experiences and draw broader conclusions from them. They generally include a systematic review of the literature on similar cases and are considered to be a research methodology that involves design logic, collection, and analysis of these cases. Study articles will be limited to a length of 5,000 words without considering references.

 

Brief Communications

These articles provide brief scientific results and descriptions, which, due to their great innovation, need to be rapidly communicated. These articles detail methods and experimental results. However, their introduction and discussion are presented concisely and their bibliographical references are generally limited. Brief communications are the way to inform the scientific community about a new method or technique. They will be limited to 2,000 words.

 

Publication Frequency

Four-monthly

The Journal has a quarterly frequency. Issues are published on April 30, August 30, and December 30.

 

Open Access Policy

 

This journal provides open, free and immediate access to its content based on the principle that making research available to the global community fosters greater knowledge sharing. Also, this journal does not make any charge to the authors who publish in it.
