The proposal of Zona de la poesía americana (Buenos Aires, 1963 – 1964): coloquial aesthetics and apropiations of «popular culture»
Main Article Content
Abstract
This paper aims to study the poetic project proposed by the group of writers gathered around the Argentine Literary Review Zona de la poesía americana, published in Buenos Aires during 1963 and 1964. From the examination of programmatic texts, essays about lyrical movements and critical articles collected over its four numbers, the research pays attention to the sense that acquires, in the pages of the review, the presence of two aspects that according to the preceding literature, are characteristic of the lyric production of the period: on the one hand, the vindication of the so-called «colloquial poetry», and on the other hand, the attention given to the study and appreciation of the symbolic manifestations identified as «popular culture»
