Ethics and responsibility
Horizonte de Enfermería is committed to maintaining the integrity of the work it publishes. Additionally, pay special attention to issues of copyright infringement, plagiarism, or other violations of best publishing practices. The objective of the journal in this regard is to protect the rights of the authors, a task that is supported, as a first step in the editorial process of the articles, with the use of the plagiarism detector “Similarity Check” for every article submitted. In this way the Editorial Team aims to protect the reputation of the journal against bad publishing practices.
All manuscripts received are evaluated anonymously by experts (double-blind system). If a reviewer discovers the author's identity through any means (such as identifying a previous work or reading a paper presented at a conference), he or she should contact the journal's Editor immediately.
Horizonte de Enfermería recommends that, if reviewers suspect any of the following problems, in any article they are reviewing, they contact the Editor of the journal to discuss the situation without delay. Reviewers are reminded that they must maintain the confidentiality of all information on these matters and not discuss them with colleagues other than the Director or Editor of the journal.
• If you suspect that the document is duplicating the work of authors
• If they suspect that there may be problems with the ethics of the research
• If they suspect that there may be an undeclared conflict of interest in the manuscript (the editors may have more information about this than you, so it is best to check).

Conflict of interests
At the time of submitting the manuscript, the author must declare any commercial, financial or personal relationship that may influence the results and conclusions of the study, or its review process. Additionally, the sources of financial support for the study must be reported. This information will be included after the conclusions section of the article, if it is accepted for publication.
Manuscripts that have a conflict of interest as a result of competitive, collaborative or any other type of relationships or connections with the institutions related to the document will not be considered.
Members of the Editorial Team and the Editorial Committee and the evaluators will withdraw in the event that there is any conflict of interest in relation to an author or authors, or the content of a manuscript to be evaluated.
Horizonte de Enfermería will avoid any conflict of interest between authors, reviewers and members of the Editorial Team and the Editorial Committee.
Horizonte de Enfermería recommends that reviewers carefully analyze, before performing the review, their possible conflicts of interest related to the evaluation of the manuscript. Sometimes the reviewer may have a potential conflict of interest when reviewing a particular manuscript. For example:
• May be a close colleague of the authors
• May be a competitor of the author or authors of the manuscript in the same area of research.
• You can participate in a project that would benefit from the authors' work if the journal accepts publication of the article.
• It may have helped the authors in the completion of their work.
If one or more of the above situations occur, or if a reviewer, for any other reason, feels uncomfortable reviewing an anonymous manuscript, they must inform the Editor of Horizonte de Enfermería, so that the journal can decide if it is necessary to search a different evaluator. It is recommended that the evaluator decline to review a document if it has a potential conflict of interest, and it is important that they declare such a conflict at this early stage, to avoid later accusations that compromise the objectivity of their report.

Originality and plagiarism
All authors must ensure that the data and results reported in the manuscript are original and have not been inappropriately copied, fabricated, falsified, or manipulated. Otherwise, they constitute serious ethical breaches and are considered scientific fraud.
They should not send the same manuscript to two or more journals at the same time. They will only be able to send it to another journal once they are notified that it has been rejected or when the authors have voluntarily withdrawn their publication from the journal.
However, Horizonte de Enfermería allows part of an article to have been previously published as a report, brief communication or a summary of a symposium, congress or conference; this implies indicating the previous source in which it was published. The journal does not allow secondary publications.

Identification and prevention of bad practices
The members of the Editorial Team and the Editorial Committee of Horizonte de Enfermería will, in no case, encourage improper conduct of any kind, nor allow such conduct to occur. On the contrary, these members will try to avoid bad practices, informing authors and evaluators about the ethical conduct required of them (indicated in the Instructions to the author and in the Guide for reviewers, respectively).
The journal asks the members of the Editorial Team, Editorial Committee and evaluators to recognize any possible malpractice, in order to identify manuscripts in which research malpractice of any type has occurred or appears to have occurred, with the aim of aim to take action accordingly.
In case of malpractice, the Director, together with the Editor of Horizonte de Enfermería, are responsible for resolving the problem, and may contact an Associate Editor of the journal, the members of the Editorial Team, the Editorial Committee, the evaluators, and specialists in the subject of the manuscript.
When identifying a bad practice, the juornal will analyze the situation, collecting all the questions related to it (who, what, when, where, why), gathering all the documents that support it, such as articles and evaluation reports. Once the documentation is gathered and having clarity on the bad practices incurred, the Director of Horizonte de Enfermería will contact the author or publications involved, whether it is the author's own or another publication or author. Subsequently, the author may respond or comment on the problem detected.
The journal's Editorial Team will consider COPE's recommendations for any case in which it detects a malpractice that has occurred or suspects its occurrence; and, if necessary, make some corrections. Special attention will be taken to detect cases of simple human error, as opposed to deliberate intent to defraud.
The Editorial Team will decide to withdraw the manuscript in the review process, if bad practice is detected, informing the author of the reasons for this; if there is any inconclusive evidence of malpractice, the author will be informed or requested to correct any part of the text that is misleading.
