This paper proposes a revision of the concept of the modern subject in the prose poems by the Chilean writer Augusto d’Halmar (1882-1950), specifically, in Palabras para canciones, poemas en tono menor, writtenduring the last decade of his life. I argue that, in this genre, d’Halmar mobilizes the various discour- ses of modernity to articulate a diluted configuration of the subject and a key to understand the different themes of his previous work.
